Although these two LOOK like models, I can assure you they're just an ordinary married couple ;) I love that Kara and Adam wanted to get photos of themselves taken. Nope, they're not having a baby... it's not their anniversary... it was a session "just because" and it was a great idea! Although it got a BIT chilly after the sun went down (which happened entirely too soon, I never fail to underestimate just how early it sets this time of year) magic happened and I think this might be one of my favorite sessions ever! I seriously had a hard time narrowing down which photos to include in this post because I marked well over 100 favorites and that's just TOO many to share in a blog post. Enjoy! Thanks to my beautiful friends Kara and Adam for an effortless and beautiful afternoon!
I love this family! Laura (the adorable mommy in this set of photos) and I went to high school together but didn't know each other until years after graduation when we'd already become mothers. I love being a mom for so many reasons! One of those reasons is because it gives me common ground with new people. I'm pretty sure I talk to Laura more than any other person. We both love car seat safety, breastfeeding, and babywearing (to name a few of our unashamedly mom-centered interests). It's such a blessing to have someone to walk through the joys and trials of motherhood with and of course it was the ultimate honor to be able to document Laura and her little family in this season of life! That said, I always laugh when I think back on family sessions. I need to warn future clients with toddlers that they'll likely think the entire session was just chaos and that they'll worry that they didn't get any "good" photos. Fear not! I strategically keep my camera clicking to capture both the beautiful chaos that is life (falling into creeks, getting bit by bugs, lots of meltdowns...) but also the fleeting moments when everyone looks way more composed and cooperative than they actually were. The beautiful chaos part is truly the reality of family photos (or maybe it's just me?!) and I don't think we're going to change the nature of toddlers anytime soon, so we might as well learn to work with it. Thank you, Schweizer family, for the fun afternoon and thanks Paul for taking us all out to dinner afterwards! And now for a few of my favorite images from their session :D
