It's a rare day. My son Finley is still sleeping and it's currently 9:15am! I usually hear him knocking on his bedroom door (his crib is right next to it) and yelling, "DADDY!" around 6:30am. This morning I stayed in bed until about 8am before enjoying a cup of coffee, finishing it before it got cold, and wondering what to do with myself. I decided a pregnancy update was in order, seeing that I'm currently 29 weeks and my littlest boy will be here in no time!
Firstly, if you didn't guess from my wording above, I'm expecting another boy! If you don't follow me on Instagram, you should because I post there much more frequently than I do here and I shared this news back when we found out the gender a few months ago. I'm very thankful that so far, both of my pregnancies have been healthy. I've definitely gained more weight and more quickly this time around! I have more aches and pains this time that I did the first time, but nothing crippling. I've been nesting like crazy all winter long, organizing things that probably don't need to be organized, rearranging, shopping, cleaning... cold weather definitely promotes nesting!
I plan to share what I've done to "keep natural" while seeing a traditional OB during this pregnancy. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work with midwives during my first pregnancy, and I do find that I need to advocate for myself a bit more these days. I'm also working on a birth plan and will share that as well! I've been meeting with doulas and hope to make a decision on hiring one soon, booked a newborn photographer, am in the process of getting a maternity session planned... it's all moving right along.
It's so much more REAL this time because I know what it's like to love a child, and I've already bonded more with the baby inside me than I did with Finley for months after he was born. If you haven't been following for long, you can read about my struggle transitioning into parenthood with my first child here. I can't predict the future, but I'm hoping it all goes a little more smoothly this time, and if it doesn't, I know the Lord provided and used my first experience to grow me in amazing ways, so come what may!
P.S. Thanks to my husband who happily obliges my sporadic and unpredictable requests for photos! These were taken on February 1, 2015 when I was 27 weeks pregnant :)
